Is BonusBobcat Legit? How It Compares With AskGamblers and Casino.guru

#AD · BonusBobcat is funded by affiliate commission: if you sign up at a casino through some links on this site, I may be paid. It never changes a score, and the method is published here. 18+ only. BeGambleAware.org

Yes, BonusBobcat is a legitimate review site, but it is not a casino, and it is not neutral in the sense of being unpaid. It is a one-person site run by me, Jay Huntington, that reviews casinos licensed by the UK Gambling Commission. It earns affiliate commission, and every score comes from a published formula you can check.

People sometimes search for “BonusBobcat reviews” or ask how it compares with AskGamblers or Casino.guru. This page answers both questions as plainly as I can, including the things BonusBobcat does not do.

Is BonusBobcat legit? The short answer

  • Who runs it: me, James (Jay) Huntington, a freelance SEO and content specialist based near Cardiff. My background is on the About page and on LinkedIn.
  • What it covers: only casinos with an active UK Gambling Commission licence, checked on the Commission’s public register. There are 18 reviews on the site at the moment.
  • How it makes money: affiliate commission. If you join a casino through a link here, the casino may pay me. You pay nothing extra and get the same offer.
  • How scores work: the same four-part formula for every casino: licence and regulatory record, third-party ratings, unresolved complaints and bonus fairness. The methodology page shows the sums.
  • What it is not: BonusBobcat does not take deposits, hold player money, run games or resolve complaints on a casino’s behalf.

What BonusBobcat does differently

Most casino review sites give you one opinion: theirs. I think that is the weak point of the whole category, mine included. A single reviewer, however careful, sees one sign-up, one bonus and one withdrawal. So each BonusBobcat review puts my own findings next to other sources and shows where they agree and where they don’t.

For every casino I check:

  • the UK Gambling Commission register: whether the licence is active, whether the exact domain is listed, and every fine or settlement against the operator in the last five years
  • AskGamblers, Casino.guru, LCB, Casinomeister and Trustpilot: their ratings, their complaint records and what players keep complaining about
  • the welcome offer terms on the casino’s own UK page, so the wagering, caps and exclusions are current

Each figure in a review is dated and linked, so you can click through and see if it has changed. Where a source has no page for a casino, the review says so rather than quietly leaving it out.

BonusBobcat vs AskGamblers, Casino.guru and the other review sites

I don’t see BonusBobcat as a rival to the big review sites. I use them. They cover thousands of casinos worldwide and handle player complaints at a scale a one-person site never could. What BonusBobcat adds is a UK-only view that puts their findings side by side with the regulator’s record.

Site What it does well How BonusBobcat uses it
AskGamblers Long-running casino ratings (CasinoRank) and a complaints service that mediates between players and casinos Its rating and its unresolved complaints feed into my score
Casino.guru A Safety Index for each casino, a review of the terms and conditions, and a large complaint resolution centre Its Safety Index and unresolved complaints feed into my score; its notes on unfair terms go in the review
LCB A big player forum, member ratings and a public complaints board Member ratings count only with 10 or more votes for the current UK site
Casinomeister One of the oldest player-advocacy sites, with accreditation, warnings and player arbitration A warning or rogue listing caps my complaints score; so far it has reviewed only one casino on BonusBobcat
Trustpilot Open reviews from anyone Counted only with 10 or more reviews on the licensed domain, because look-alike profiles are common

If you want the widest possible choice of casinos, including ones outside the UK, those sites list far more than I do. If you are in Great Britain and want to know whether a UK-licensed casino is worth joining, and what the outside evidence says, that is what BonusBobcat is for.

BonusBobcat vs no deposit bonus sites

Some bonus sites are mostly long lists of no deposit codes. BonusBobcat used to run pages like that for offshore casinos. I removed them in October 2026, because those casinos are not licensed in the UK, are not part of GamStop and are not bound by the UK’s 10x wagering cap.

Genuine no deposit offers are rare at UK-licensed casinos, so you won’t find many here. What you will find are first-deposit offers with their real conditions spelled out: the deposit you need, the wagering, and the most you can actually withdraw. My UK casino bonuses page ranks them by how fair the terms are.

Are there BonusBobcat reviews from real players?

BonusBobcat does not publish player reviews of itself, and I’d be wary of any review site that quotes glowing comments about itself. What each casino review does include is a summary of what real players report elsewhere, mainly on Trustpilot, AskGamblers and Casino.guru, with links so you can read them yourself. I paraphrase rather than quote, and I count a casino’s Trustpilot score only when there are enough reviews on the right domain to mean something.

If you have used a casino I review and your experience doesn’t match what I wrote, email me. I would rather correct a review than defend it.

How affiliate commission affects the scores

It doesn’t decide them, and you don’t have to take my word for that. The formula is published, the inputs are linked, and the low scores are on the site for anyone to see. Rollbit and Monster Casino both score 2.5/5 even though I have affiliate links for them, because their complaint records are poor. Hub pages rank casinos by score or by how fair their bonus terms are, never by what they pay.

I don’t accept payment for reviews, positions or scores, and casinos don’t see a review before it goes live.

What BonusBobcat can’t do

  • Resolve your complaint. If a casino is holding a withdrawal, contact the casino first, then the independent dispute service (ADR) named in its terms. Every UKGC-licensed casino has to offer one.
  • Test every casino in person. Where I have tested a casino, the review gives the month and what happened. Where I haven’t yet, the review says it is based on the published terms and third-party records.
  • Stay right forever. Offers, ratings and licences change. Each review shows when it was last checked; if a date looks old, check the casino’s own terms before you deposit.

How to check any casino yourself

You don’t need BonusBobcat, or any review site, to do the most important check. It takes two minutes:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the casino’s site and find the operator name and Gambling Commission account number.
  • Look that number up on the Gambling Commission public register. Check the licence status is Active and the exact web address is on the operator’s list of domains.
  • Open the operator’s regulatory actions to see any fines or settlements.

If the licence isn’t active or the domain isn’t listed, don’t deposit. My guide What is the UKGC? explains what the licence protects, and how to check if an online casino is safe walks through every step.

Who owns BonusBobcat?

BonusBobcat is run by James (Jay) Huntington, a freelance SEO and content specialist based near Cardiff, who writes every review on the site.

Is BonusBobcat better than AskGamblers?

They do different jobs. AskGamblers covers casinos worldwide and runs a complaints service. BonusBobcat covers only UK-licensed casinos and combines AskGamblers’ findings with Casino.guru, LCB, Casinomeister, Trustpilot and the Gambling Commission register into one published score.

Does BonusBobcat get paid by casinos?
