Every casino listed on BonusBobcat has been personally tested by me using a real account and real money. This page describes exactly what that testing process involves, in the order I do it.

Why Methodology Matters

Casino review sites vary enormously in how — and whether — they actually test the casinos they recommend. Some list casinos based on affiliate commission rates without ever registering. Others copy bonus details from the casino’s own marketing materials. Neither approach serves you. My methodology is designed to replicate the actual experience of a UK player registering, playing, and withdrawing — because that’s the only way to give you useful information.

Step 1: Licence and Regulatory Standing

The first thing I check is whether the casino holds a valid licence from a recognised regulatory authority — and I look the licence number up directly with the issuing body rather than taking the casino’s word for it. Licences from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and Curaçao eGaming are the three I encounter most often. A casino without a verifiable licence does not appear on BonusBobcat at all.

Step 2: Registration Assessment (5–10 minutes)

I register at every casino using my own personal details — not a test account with fake information. I time the registration process and note: how many steps are involved, what information is required, whether address verification is requested upfront or deferred to withdrawal, whether there are any friction points or confusing UI elements, and how long email verification takes.

I do not accept any cash incentive from casinos to register — all accounts are funded from my own money.

Step 3: Bonus Terms — Read in Full

This is the most important part of any no deposit bonus review, and the part most sites skip. I read the complete terms and conditions for every bonus listed on BonusBobcat, and I document these figures against the casino’s official terms page — not its promotional copy:

  • Wagering requirement, and whether it applies to the bonus amount, the deposit, or winnings only
  • Maximum cashout or max win limit
  • Eligible games, and the contribution percentage for each game type
  • Maximum bet per spin while a bonus is active
  • Expiry period
  • Eligible countries

Where the promotional copy and the terms page disagree, the terms page wins and the discrepancy goes in the review.

Step 4: Welcome Bonus Claim

I claim the advertised welcome offer following the stated instructions exactly as a new player would — using any required bonus codes, completing any required cashier steps. I verify that: the bonus appears in the account correctly, the amount matches the advertised terms, any free spins are credited to the correct game, and the wagering requirement shown in the account matches the advertised terms.

If the bonus does not work as advertised, I report this in the review. I do not omit negative findings.

Step 5: Wagering (1–7 days)

I play through the wagering requirement using my own money plus the bonus. I play primarily on slots (which contribute 100% to wagering at all reviewed casinos) at stakes typical of a recreational player (£0.20–£1.00 per spin). I note: how the wagering tracker functions, whether it updates in real time, and whether any technical issues arise during the playthrough.

I test at least one slot from the casino’s top providers and assess game load times, mobile performance, and whether the casino’s games play as expected based on published RTP data.

Step 6: Withdrawal Submission and Timing

I initiate a withdrawal via PayPal where available (as it gives the cleanest timing data) or by another method where PayPal is unavailable. I record: the time between withdrawal request and funds receipt, whether any additional KYC documents are requested, and whether the processing time matches the casino’s stated policy.

A casino that states “24-hour processing” but takes 5 days is assessed accordingly.

Step 7: Game Library Assessment

I record which studios supply the casino, roughly how many titles are live, and whether the headline games are actually present or simply listed in marketing material. I note whether live dealer tables are offered, and I check that the games tied to any advertised bonus are genuinely available in the account — a free spins offer on a slot the casino no longer carries is a common and under-reported problem.

Step 8: Customer Support Test

I contact live chat with a genuine question that cannot be answered by reading the FAQ — typically about bonus contribution rates, specific wagering edge cases, or payment method limits. I do not identify myself as a reviewer. I record: response time (from first message to first agent response), accuracy of the information provided, and whether the agent escalates unnecessarily or resolves the query at first contact.

Step 9: Mobile Testing

I test every casino on both iOS (Safari) and Android (Chrome) for: game load times, live casino stream stability on 4G, cashier functionality, and account settings accessibility. Casinos with native apps are tested on the app as well as the browser.

Step 10: Responsible Gambling Assessment

I verify that the following UKGC-required tools are present and accessible from the account menu (not buried in FAQs): deposit limits, session time limits, reality check notifications, and self-exclusion. I also check GamStop integration by attempting to register a test account with a GamStop-registered email address.

Step 11: Player Reputation and Third-Party Feedback

My own test is one account over a few days, so I cross-reference it against a wider evidence base: Trustpilot, AskGamblers and LCB, plus relevant player forum threads. I weight verified complaints about withdrawal delays, retrospective bonus term changes and account closures heavily. A casino showing a pattern of those complaints goes on the blacklisted casinos page regardless of how good its bonus looks.

Review Update Policy

Casino offers, terms, and quality change. I re-test each reviewed casino at minimum every six months. When material details change — particularly bonus terms, wagering requirements, or payment method availability — I update the review immediately. The “last tested” date at the bottom of each review page shows when I most recently verified the information with a live account session.
