Why Our Review Methodology Matters

There are thousands of casino review sites online. Most of them list bonuses without reading the terms, publish star ratings without testing anything, and update pages only when a new affiliate deal comes in. After 15 years in this industry — first as a writer for other publications, then as the founder of BonusBobcat — I built this site specifically to do things differently.

Every casino review on BonusBobcat follows the same 8-point process. No shortcuts. No copy-paste from press releases. The review you read is what I actually found when I went looking.

The BonusBobcat 8-Point Review Process

1. Licence and Regulatory Standing

The first thing I check is whether the casino holds a valid licence from a recognised regulatory authority. I look up the licence number directly with the issuing body — not just the casino’s claims about it. Licences from the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), and Curaçao eGaming are the three I see most frequently. Any casino without a verifiable licence does not appear on BonusBobcat.

2. Bonus Terms — Read in Full

This is the most important part of any no deposit bonus review. I read the complete terms and conditions for every bonus listed on BonusBobcat. The key figures I document:

  • Wagering requirement (and whether it applies to the bonus amount, deposit amount, or winnings only)
  • Maximum cashout or max win limit
  • Eligible games (and the contribution percentage for each game type)
  • Maximum bet per spin while a bonus is active
  • Expiry period
  • Eligible countries

I compare these figures against the casino’s official terms page, not against their promotional copy. Promotional copy often omits or softens unfavourable terms.

3. Registration and Bonus Claiming

I go through the registration process at every casino I review. I check how many steps are involved, what personal information is required, whether phone/email verification is mandatory before bonuses activate, and whether any bonus codes need to be entered — and at which point in the process. This is the information most reviews miss, and it’s the information that most frustrates players when they find out at the last step.

4. Game Library Assessment

I check the game catalogue for provider quality, variety of formats (slots, live casino, table games, crash games), and whether the no deposit game specifically is a worthwhile title or a low-quality filler. I note which major studios are represented — Pragmatic Play, Evolution Gaming, NetEnt, Play’n GO, BGaming, and others — as a proxy for overall library quality.

5. Payment Methods and Withdrawal Testing

I document every available deposit and withdrawal method, including minimum and maximum limits and processing times. Where possible, I test the withdrawal process directly or draw on documented player experience from verified sources. I flag casinos with slow withdrawal processing, unclear KYC processes, or unreasonable withdrawal minimums.

6. Customer Support Testing

I contact the live chat team at every casino I review. I ask a specific question about the bonus terms — the same question each time — and assess the quality and speed of the response. A support team that can’t accurately explain its own bonus terms is a meaningful red flag. I note the available support channels (live chat, email, Telegram, phone) and the hours each is available.

7. Mobile Experience

Over 60% of casino players now play primarily on mobile. I test the mobile browser experience on both iOS and Android for every casino reviewed. I assess load times, navigation, whether the full game library is available, and whether the bonus claiming process works cleanly on a small screen.

8. Player Reputation and Third-Party Feedback

I cross-reference each casino against third-party review platforms including Trustpilot, AskGamblers, and LCB, and review relevant threads in player forums. I weight verified complaints about withdrawal delays, bonus term changes, or account closures heavily in my assessment. A casino with a pattern of player complaints appears on our blacklisted casinos page regardless of its bonus offer.

How Often Are Reviews Updated?

Casino bonus terms change frequently — sometimes without announcement. BonusBobcat reviews are updated whenever:

  • A bonus offer changes (new code, new terms, new game)
  • A casino changes its licence or ownership
  • A significant volume of player complaints emerges
  • A casino is added to or removed from our recommended list
  • Scheduled quarterly review of all active pages

Every page carries a “Last Updated” date so you can see how current the information is. If a bonus on our site no longer matches what the casino is showing, please let us know and we’ll verify and update it.

Our Editorial Independence

BonusBobcat earns revenue through affiliate commissions. This means we receive a payment when a reader registers or deposits at a casino through our links. This is how independent casino review sites fund themselves, and we are transparent about it.

What this does not mean:

  • We do not accept payment to improve a casino’s rating
  • We do not remove negative findings from reviews at a casino’s request
  • We do not list casinos we would not recommend to players we know personally
  • We maintain a public blacklist of casinos we consider untrustworthy, regardless of whether they have approached us for an affiliate deal

Our ratings and recommendations reflect Bobby Connor’s genuine assessment based on the 8-point process above. If you disagree with a rating or have evidence that contradicts our findings, we want to hear it.
